Edit and Create Product
How to edit a product.
One of the most powerful tools in Advanced Search. Reasons to edit a product:
Add additional information to a product unique to your needs.
Create a New product using the Edit This Product feature. Use most of the information/documents already in an existing product, to create a new one.
Check ‘APPROVED’ to know that an existing product is complete, and the way you want it.
Let’s review them one at a time. You can decide which approach you prefer.
How to Create a New Product.
Create a product not currently found in the database. Reasons to create a product:
Custom products need to be created. You can Edit a Product to create a Custom if most of the custom product information already exists in the database. In example: an Interface carpet tile may already have everything but the custom specifications.
Unique products that may be only available to your company. As an example, your company may have a unique adhesive that was made exclusively for your company with a unique product name/number.
It happens. Sometimes we simply don’t have the product in our database. This happens more frequently with natural products (stone/porcelain/ceramics). When you can’t find it - Create It! Don’t forget to try the Edit this Product as a shortcut.

List View sets up your products for all future transactions.
TBD create ‘To Be Determined’ products on the fly.
Remove Products that are no longer needed.
Add Designations. Every product needs a designation.
Notes. Unique to Spec-ID, you can add notes to each product; in example, ‘wet areas only’, ‘please select a color’, etc.
Arrange in order. Organize your products how you want them shown in your (submittal/closeout/other) binders.
Once your products are how you like them, they remain this way for every binder you make..
